The Pakistan Meteorological Department has released the schedule for solar and lunar eclipses in 2026, announcing a total of four events – two solar and two lunar.
According to details, only one of these will be partially visible in Pakistan.
- First Solar Eclipse: February 17, 2026 Starts at 3:00 PM, peaks at 5:00 PM, ends at 7:30 PM (Pakistan Standard Time). Not visible in Pakistan.
- First Lunar Eclipse: March 3, 2026 Partially visible in some areas of Pakistan.
- Second Solar Eclipse: August 12-13, 2026 Not visible in Pakistan.
- Second Lunar Eclipse: August 28, 2026 Not visible in Pakistan or most of South Asia.
Astronomers explain that eclipses occur due to slight changes in the alignment of Earth, Moon, and Sun. These events help scientists better understand space and planetary motion.
