US President Donald Trump has referred to the negotiations for Gaza as “highly purposeful and encouraging,” assuring that talks would be pursued until the formation of a viable peace accord.
In a statement published on Saturday, Trump stated that Middle Eastern leaders are personally engaging in the process and all stakeholders have been consulted. “This is the first time we are seeing extraordinary sincerity and enthusiasm for a settlement,” Trump said.
In accordance with the president, Hamas has been briefed comprehensively on the progress, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu too has been brought on board. Trump emphasized that unity in the region is critical for any peace deal to last and indicated hope that an agreement could be achieved within reach.
The initiative comes at a time of increased international attention to Gaza, where decades of violence have intensified humanitarian and security emergencies. Past diplomatic initiatives have consistently bogged down, but US officials say the current framework has elicited an unusually high degree of commitment from regional and international players.
In the meantime, the Wall Street Journal revealed that Trump’s peace plan would call for establishing an international transitional authority to manage Gaza’s governance. The organization would allegedly be assisted by the United Nations and spearheaded by former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, with Palestinian technocrats comprising part of its government.

Should it be implemented, the authority would be responsible for securing governance, allowing for reconstruction, and laying the groundwork for durable political solutions. The proposal is reported to have been met with initial talks among regional partners, though questions persist regarding its acceptability and feasibility among local forces.

Commentators add that the Trump administration’s new push is part of larger US efforts to regain leverage in the conflict dynamics of the Middle East. Although more details of the plan are still being negotiated, the incorporation of an international authority headed by a top global figure represents a shift from earlier approaches that focused on bilateral or regional frameworks.
Analysts warn, however, that while the good words are encouraging, the way to a deal is complicated. Profound mutual distrust between Hamas and Israel, internal Palestinian political splits, and fears from neighboring countries may still scupper progress.
Nevertheless, Trump repeated his resolve to continue the talks. “We will continue to negotiate until a successful deal is concluded,” he declared, indicating that Washington is ready for the long haul.
The next few weeks will tell whether this newest diplomatic push can overcome decades of past failures and bring some stability to Gaza.
