The Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup is set to commence tomorrow in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The tournament will feature players under the age of 21, with Pakistan’s junior hockey team kicking off their campaign against hosts Malaysia in their opening match tomorrow.
Under the supervision of head coach Kamran Ashraf, the Pakistan junior hockey team underwent rigorous training at Johor Bahru Hockey Stadium, focusing on drills to refine their skills and enhance their performance.
Pakistan’s junior team will face England in their second match on Sunday, followed by a highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals India on Tuesday, October 14.
Team captain Hannan Shahid stated that they worked on improving their game during their only practice session before the tournament. He emphasized the importance of the opening match, saying, “The first match of any event is always crucial.”
Hannan Shahid further noted that Malaysia has a strong team, adding, “We aim to boost our confidence by winning against the host nation.”
