Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that free electric scooters will be provided to women in the province to enhance mobility and empowerment.

He highlighted that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari raised demands with the federal government for farmer relief and made significant efforts to support the agricultural sector.

The Chief Minister stated that measures have been taken to avert a wheat crisis in the country. The federal government sought proposals from the Sindh administration to boost wheat production.

Decisions have been made to address food security challenges, emphasizing the need for timely provision of fertilizers and other essentials to increase output.

He noted that last year’s saved wheat reserves proved crucial; otherwise, imports would have been necessary. Sindh has targeted a production range of 8 to 12 lakh tons of wheat.

CM Shah criticized the federal government for initiating IMF talks without consulting provinces. Last year, setting a support price of Rs4,000 per maund led to record production, but this year’s lack of a fixed price resulted in declines.

He announced that a bag of DAP fertilizer worth Rs14,000 will be provided to farmers and stressed that the wheat support price should not fall below Rs4,000 per maund. “Without support prices, how will farmers cultivate wheat? We want to provide relief to encourage higher production,” he added.

The Sindh government plans to offer a Rs55.89 billion relief package to farmers, aiming to provide better facilities for enhanced cultivation.
