Karachi: The Sindh government is preparing for a major reshuffle in its provincial cabinet, and reports suggest that the Local Government Department may soon be taken away from Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani.
According to the official sources, discussions are underway at the Chief Minister’s House, where Saeed Ghani, Jam Khan Shoro, and Ismail Rahu are expected to meet Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The shake-up comes as part of broader changes aimed at reorganizing key departments in the province.
Insiders reveal that Saeed Ghani could lose his Local Government portfolio, while the Labor portfolio held by Provincial Minister Shahid Thahim is also likely to be withdrawn. At the same time, Sindh Assembly member Ismail Rahu is expected to be inducted into the cabinet as a provincial minister.
Additionally, Jam Khan Shoro is tipped to receive an important promotion, with the Planning and Development Department likely to be added to his existing responsibilities.
The final announcement of the reshuffle is expected soon, as the Sindh government looks to adjust its team for stronger governance.
Moreover, Voting for the local government by-elections across 14 districts of Sindh began on Wednesday morning, with people casting their ballots for 28 seats.

The polling started at 8:00 am and will continue until 4:00 pm without any break. According to the Election Commission of Sindh, the process has so far remained peaceful, and voter participation is progressing smoothly.
A total of 243,187 people are registered to vote in these by-elections. This includes 133,038 male voters and 110,154 female voters.
Polling is taking place in three districts of Karachi East, West, and Keamari as well as in Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Matiari, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Badin, and Thatta.
The Election Commission has confirmed that strict security arrangements are in place to ensure a safe and transparent polling process. A special control room has also been set up by Provincial Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chohan to monitor the situation closely. It will remain active until all results are collected and finalized.
