Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Kurram district during which seven Indian-sponsored Khawarij terrorists were killed. Six soldiers, including Captain Nauman Saleem, 24, from Mianwali, attained martyrdom in the heavy exchange of fire.
The martyred soldiers are Havildar Amjad Ali, Naik Waqas Ahmed, Sepoy Ijaz Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Waleed and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz. Sanitisation of the area is in progress to eliminate any remaining terrorists.
In Bajaur, one terrorist was killed and several hideouts destroyed in a separate action.
In Orakzai, security forces neutralised all 30 Khawarij involved in an earlier attack.
Under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, the armed forces have vowed to eradicate terrorism in its entirety and dismantle Indian-backed networks root and branch.
President Asif Ali Zardari paid glowing tributes to the martyrs, saying the nation is proud of the sacrifices rendered by its valiant sons and lauded the professionalism of the security forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the forces on eliminating seven terrorists, offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the martyrs’ higher ranks in paradise. He said the entire nation salutes the armed forces and remains determined to wipe out terrorism from Pakistan.
