Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has secured a major international position, elected as president of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), a body with 195 member countries focused on public financial oversight.
The decision came during INTOSAI’s 25th General Assembly in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where the Saudi delegation, led by General Court of Audit (GCA) President Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Alangari, represented the kingdom. Saudi Arabia, via GCA, will lead for a three-year term starting in 2031, hosting the 27th assembly in Riyadh.
Dr. Alangari said: “This honor reflects Saudi Arabia’s international stature and global trust. Without the leadership’s support and GCA’s empowerment, it wouldn’t be possible.” He pledged to elevate INTOSAI to new heights during its term, advancing transparency, governance, and accountability worldwide.
Saudi Arabia’s GCA, an INTOSAI member since 1977, has held key roles like chairing ARABOSAI since 2022 and upcoming ASOSAI leadership in 2027. It also leads capacity-building initiatives for developing nations. The assembly also awarded GCA the INTOSAI “Future Award” for innovation and leadership
