Lahore: The Punjab Finance Department has directed all district accounts offices and relevant departments to disburse December salaries and pensions to Christian government employees by December 19, ensuring they can celebrate Christmas without financial worries.
According to a circular issued to provincial authorities, the early payment initiative is aimed at providing financial relief and enhancing the festive spirit for minority community members. Departments have been instructed to avoid any delays in processing these disbursements, with strict oversight to guarantee timely compliance.
Sources indicate that this step reflects the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the well-being of Christian employees, allowing them to focus on family gatherings and traditions during the holiday season. The move has been welcomed by affected staff, who view it as a positive gesture that adds to the joy of Christmas.
Similar early payment directives have been issued in other provinces like Sindh and Balochistan, with Sindh targeting December 18 and Balochistan aiming for December 22, underscoring a nationwide effort to accommodate minority holidays. Federally, Christian employees also benefit from advance salaries on December 20, as announced by the Finance Ministry.
This policy aligns with broader welfare measures, including recent pension enhancements and annual increments effective from December 1, 2025, which further bolster financial security for public servants across Punjab.
