Peshawar: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, declared on Wednesday that Pakistan will no longer tolerate the use of Afghan territory for terrorist activities against the country, while reaffirming Islamabad’s desire for peaceful relations with all neighbors.
During a visit to Peshawar, the army chief was briefed at Corps Headquarters on the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness, and border management protocols, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
He engaged with tribal elders in a jirga, praising their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and commending their role amid recent Pak-Afghan tensions. “Pakistan wants peace with all neighbors, but terrorism from Afghan soil will not be tolerated,” Field Marshal Munir stated firmly.
He highlighted Pakistan’s repeated efforts to improve ties with Afghanistan, accusing the Afghan Taliban of providing safe havens to Indian-backed terrorist groups. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be purged of terrorists and their facilitators,” he asserted.
The tribal leaders reaffirmed full support for security forces against the “fitna of Khawarij” and Indian-sponsored extremism, stating such ideologies hold no place among the tribes.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s resolve to secure its western border amid a surge in TTP attacks orchestrated from Afghanistan, with recent intelligence pointing to Indian involvement in funding and arming anti-Pakistan militants.
