Dubai, October 14, 2025 – At the ongoing GITEX Global 2025 exhibition—from October 13 to 17—Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) pledged enhanced cooperation in digital innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and governance, as Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja led high-level engagements. The world’s largest tech event, featuring over 6,500 companies from 180+ countries, served as a platform for Pakistan’s Tech Destination Pavilion, showcasing 36 firms and 10 startups to attract FDI and networking.
Khawaja inaugurated the pavilion, emphasizing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Digital Nation vision, and held key meetings. With UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology Undersecretary Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, discussions centered on AI, digital governance, the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, National Data Exchange Layer, and cashless economy initiatives. She also met Abu Dhabi Investment Office’s Massimo Falcioni on digital investments and technical collaborations, and AHADEO CEO Munib Anjum on bolstering Pakistan’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
Additional talks included UAE Cybersecurity Council Head Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti on cyber resilience, cloud governance, and AI infrastructure; Liquid AI CEO Ramin Hasani on AI skills and research; and Romania’s Ministry of Economy Advisor Vasile Catalin on cybersecurity ethics. Building on 2024’s “Tech Destination of the Year” accolade, Pakistan’s participation—led by Khawaja’s keynote on AI and connectivity—aims to elevate IT exports to UAE, already at $380 million.
These pacts signal a strategic tech alliance, positioning Pakistan as an emerging hub amid global digital shifts.
