The head of US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, has stated that no American troops will enter Gaza.

According to foreign media reports, Admiral Cooper, responsible for protecting US military interests in the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia, visited Gaza following the recent ceasefire.

Israeli media reported that the purpose of his visit was to verify that Israeli forces had completed their withdrawal from designated areas as per the agreement.

Upon returning from Gaza, Admiral Cooper issued a statement on social media, clarifying that the 200 troops being deployed to monitor the Gaza peace plan will not include US military personnel.

In his remarks, Admiral Cooper said, “The purpose of my visit was to understand how to establish a CENTCOM-led civil-military coordination center. This task will be accomplished without the presence of US forces in Gaza.”

The statement aligns with earlier US officials’ assurances that while a team of about 200 personnel from CENTCOM will oversee the ceasefire implementation and assist in Gaza’s transition to civilian governance, no US boots will be on the ground in the Palestinian territory. The multinational effort, coordinated from Israel, may involve forces from countries like Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the UAE to support humanitarian aid and security without direct American involvement inside Gaza.
