Lahore, City of Gardens, Ranks Second Among World’s Most Polluted Cities Today

Smog levels at 429; Ravi Road AQI hits 1198; health experts urge masks and air purifiers

Lahore: (Dunya News) The City of Gardens, Lahore, remains second among the world’s most polluted cities today.

According to an environmental website, the average smog level in the city has been recorded at 429. The AQI in the Ravi Road area stands at 1198, Lower Mall at 810, and around FC College at 706.

Additionally, Gujranwala is the most polluted city in Pakistan with an AQI reaching 593, Faisalabad at 365, Multan at 299, and Peshawar exceeding 172.

The report states that India’s capital New Delhi tops the list of the world’s most polluted cities with an AQI of 702.

Health experts have advised citizens to wear masks, avoid unnecessary travel, and increase the use of air purifiers at home. Environmental experts say that burning crop residues, traffic congestion, and industrial emissions are causing the city’s air to suffer from severe pollution.
