Islamabad: India is actively promoting terrorist narratives to incite unrest and instability in Pakistan, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said Friday, exposing yet another fabricated story by pro-government Indian media.
The ministry debunked a misleading report by India Today, which claimed the Afghan Taliban released a video of a captured Pakistani ISIS fighter confessing to training in Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) camps in Balochistan and operations with ISIS-Khorasan in Afghanistan. The channel cited an “unverified source,” which other Indian outlets amplified without fact-checking.
“No official or verified Taliban channel has issued such a video,” the ministry stated. Both Pakistan’s Foreign Office and Taliban spokespersons denied any arrest or confession of a Pakistani ISIS militant.
This comes amid heightened Indo-Pak tensions, with Pakistani officials accusing India of using Afghan proxies to fuel cross-border terrorism. The ministry labeled the “Godi media” as a state-sponsored propaganda machine wielding lies and deception to destabilize the region.
The expose highlights ongoing efforts to counter disinformation, as Pakistan pushes for verified reporting to prevent escalation.
