Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has been confirmed as the title sponsor for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the next two editions, ensuring the tournament remains the HBL PSL through 2027.
At a press conference in Karachi, PSL CEO Salman Naseer announced the renewal, reflecting on the league’s journey: “When we started, few believed in it. Only five parties trusted us enough to buy teams. Despite efforts to tarnish its image, PSL pushed forward – even completing a season amid COVID.”
All previous deals expired after a decade, prompting a fresh valuation for the 11th edition. HBL exercised its right-to-match clause at the independent fair market value, resulting in a staggering 505% increase over the prior agreement.
Naseer highlighted the league’s growth into a global T20 powerhouse, crediting HBL’s unwavering support since 2016. The extension underscores confidence in PSL’s brand and reach.
In a related development, Naseer revealed plans for two new franchises ahead of the next auction. Bidding parties will receive a pool of city names to select from, expanding the league’s footprint.
The announcement caps a pivotal PCB meeting, with upcoming seasons promising enhanced digital engagement and production upgrades.
