Oman has launched a new cultural visa to draw skilled individuals from around the world, providing clear legal pathways for temporary residence and work in arts and culture. The initiative, effective from November 10, 2025, under Royal Oman Police Decision No. 156/2025, targets artists, researchers, academics, and creative professionals to foster international collaboration and support Oman’s Vision 2040 cultural strategy. The Royal Oman Police announced on social media platform X that the visa simplifies participation in cultural activities, including exchanges, artistic training, joint research in arts and heritage, literary conferences, festivals, exhibitions, and events. It is issued upon request from sponsoring Omani entities like the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, educational institutions, or cultural centers. Eligible applicants include writers, poets, performers, designers, musicians, curators, and those involved in cultural tourism or intellectual symposia. Family members—spouses, parents, and children—can obtain a special joining visa for cultural purposes, making relocation more feasible. Visa durations are one year (RO 50 fee), five years (RO 50 annually), or ten years (RO 50 annually), with new residents required to enter Oman within three months of issuance. The program seeks to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, promote knowledge exchange, organize cultural activities, boost tourism, and strengthen global intellectual ties, positioning Oman as a hub for creative industries.
