The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Faisal Mumtaz Rathore as its candidate for Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) while submitting a no-confidence motion against incumbent AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq. During a press conference in Islamabad, senior PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf stated that the party has the required numbers to pass the motion and will form the government in AJK. PPP AJK leader Chaudhry Yasin emphasized the deep-rooted bond between the party and Kashmir, noting that PPP has become a strong political force in the region under Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership. He added that the party is preparing for upcoming elections while addressing public issues. Earlier, a private news channel reported that PPP had decided to immediately file the motion, directing assembly members to reach Muzaffarabad and securing their signatures on the resolution. PPP leader Shazia Marri described the no-confidence move as a constitutional right rather than a personal vendetta. The motion requires a simple majority of 27 votes in the 52-member AJK Legislative Assembly, with the party claiming support from over 36 members.
