The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially greenlit the venues for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, setting the stage for a high-stakes tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

According to Indian media reports, the grand finale is slated for Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, a venue synonymous with epic encounters. However, in a notable contingency, if Pakistan advances to the final, the match will be relocated to Colombo, Sri Lanka, to navigate geopolitical sensitivities.

Cricinfo details that the event will feature eight matches in India across five iconic grounds: Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Ahmedabad, Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, and Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Sri Lanka will host 12 games at two Colombo venues—Premadasa International Cricket Stadium and R. Premadasa Stadium—and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

The tournament will see 20 teams vying for glory, structured in the same format as the 2024 edition: four groups of five teams each, with the top two from every group progressing to the Super Eights, followed by semifinals and the final.

Defending champions India, who clinched the title with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in Barbados last year, will aim to retain their crown. Speculation is rife that the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash could unfold on February 8 in Colombo, adding electric anticipation to the schedule.

This approval caps months of planning, with the ICC emphasizing fan accessibility and broadcast excellence. Full fixtures are expected soon, promising another chapter in T20’s global spectacle.
