The Balochistan Home Department has imposed Section 144 across the province for one month, citing security apprehensions, to maintain law and order.

Under the order, gatherings of five or more people, rallies, processions, sit-ins, and the display of arms have been strictly prohibited throughout Balochistan. Violations will invite stern action, the department stated in its notification.

Officials emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and aimed at preserving peace, with the section to be lifted once the situation normalizes.

In a parallel move, the Punjab government has extended Section 144 for an additional seven days until November 8, barring all forms of protests, rallies, processions, sit-ins, and gatherings. The use of loudspeakers is now limited solely to the call to prayer (Azan) and Friday sermons.

According to the Punjab Home Department’s notification, public assemblies of four or more individuals at public places remain banned, along with any exhibition of weapons province-wide. The spokesperson reiterated that these measures are essential to curb potential unrest and ensure public safety.

The decisions in both provinces reflect heightened vigilance amid ongoing concerns over stability, with authorities urging citizens to cooperate for a swift return to normalcy.
