Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ruled out any negotiations with the United States as long as it continues supporting Israel and maintains military bases in the Middle East.

Speaking on state television, Khamenei said America sometimes expresses a desire for cooperation with Iran. But he made it clear that talks are impossible while the US backs Israel and interferes in regional affairs.

He stressed that Iran will never compromise on its sovereignty.

The remarks come in response to last month’s statement by US President Donald Trump, who said America is ready for dialogue and friendship whenever Iran is prepared.

Tensions remain high following Israel’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June and ongoing US sanctions. Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
