Manama: Iran overpowered Pakistan 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) in the final of the men’s volleyball tournament at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain on Tuesday, clinching the gold medal while Pakistan settled for silver.

Despite a valiant effort, Pakistan’s unbeaten campaign came to an end against a dominant Iranian side. The young Green Shirts fought hard in each set but fell short in tight finishes, especially in the second and third where they pushed Iran to the limit.

In the semifinals, Pakistan defeated Indonesia 3-1, while Iran blanked Thailand 3-0.

Earlier, Pakistan secured a bronze in kabaddi, lifting the nation from 35th to 29th in the overall standings with one silver and one bronze. As of October 29, China leads with 106 medals (50 gold, 38 silver, 18 bronze), followed by Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. India has slipped from 6th to 11th.
