Rawalpindi: Dengue mosquito attacks have intensified again in Rawalpindi after a one-day lull, with 32 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours—up from just 10 the previous day—pushing the district’s total to 1,764 for the year.
The sharp rise has heightened concerns, with 35 patients currently under treatment in various hospitals. So far in 2025, 19,504 individuals have undergone dengue tests. To combat the outbreak, 1,359 control teams are active, having inspected over 6.045 million homes.
Surveillance efforts uncovered larvae at 171,838 sites, with 76,598 locations testing positive. In total, 219,777 larvae have been destroyed. Enforcement against violations has been strict: 4,662 FIRs registered, 1,856 buildings sealed, 3,620 challans issued, and fines totaling millions of rupees imposed.
In neighboring Islamabad, 30 fresh cases emerged in the past day—18 from rural areas and 12 from urban zones—bringing the active patient count to 62, with the highest (4) from Bara Koh. Teams inspected 41,776 sites, identifying positive larvae at 4 commercial spots and 278 homes.
Health officials urge residents to eliminate stagnant water, use repellents, and report breeding sites promptly to curb the spread, especially as monsoon aftermath fuels mosquito proliferation.
