In a milestone for bilateral trade, the first-ever shipment of American crude oil has reached Pakistan following the landmark commerce agreement between Islamabad and Washington.

Private TV channels, quoting refinery officials, reported that the vessel loaded with US crude docked at Synergy Oil Terminal in Hub, Balochistan.

The tanker, MT Pegasus, departed Houston on September 14 carrying 1 million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude – marking the largest US oil carrier to ever visit Pakistani ports.

This inaugural import by Synergy – Pakistan’s first company to source crude from the US – underscores efforts to diversify energy supplies and boost two-way commerce.

A second US crude vessel is slated to arrive next month, with Synergy planning a third cargo in 2026.

The move aligns with the recent trade deal, aimed at reducing Pakistan’s reliance on traditional Middle Eastern suppliers amid global price volatility.
