Pakistan’s rising squash sensation Ashab Irfan has etched his name in history by securing his first PSA World Tour title at the Richardson Wealth Men’s Vancouver Open 2025.
The 21-year-old, seeded fourth, triumphed in the $31,250 prize purse event by defeating England’s Sam Todd in a commanding 3-0 straight-sets victory in the final. The 43-minute masterclass saw Irfan prevail with scores of 11-9, 11-1, and 11-5, showcasing precision, stamina, and tactical brilliance.
This landmark win catapults Irfan into the top 50 of the PSA World Rankings, a significant leap for the young Pakistani who has been steadily climbing the professional circuit.
Irfan’s path to glory included a gritty semifinal upset over second-seeded Englishman Adrian Waller, where he outlasted the higher-ranked opponent 3-2 in a 68-minute thriller (8-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-5, 11-8). Earlier, he navigated a five-game quarterfinal battle against Hong Kong’s Matthew Lai, underscoring his resilience in the PSA World Tour Copper-level tournament.
Fellow Pakistani Noor Zaman also impressed, advancing to the quarterfinals before exiting, highlighting the resurgence of squash talent from Pakistan—a nation synonymous with legends like Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan.
