The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s sharp-witted response to a journalist’s question about the venue for the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has dominated social media and international headlines.
In recent days, the two leaders held a detailed telephone conversation discussing various issues, including a potential ceasefire in Ukraine. Following the call, they agreed to meet in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
During a press briefing, when a reporter asked, “Who decided on Budapest for the meeting?” Leavitt quipped in a sarcastic tone, “Your mom did.”
Foreign media reported that when pressed on whether the remark was meant in jest, the spokesperson retorted, “You left-wing advocates who call yourselves journalists are hilarious to me because no one takes you seriously—not even your colleagues.”
