Visakhapatnam, October 13, 2025 – South Africa Women clinched a heart-pounding three-wicket victory over Bangladesh Women in the 14th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, chasing down 233 with just three balls to spare. Chloe Tryon’s fiery 62 off 69 balls and Marizanne Kapp’s steady 56 off 71 anchored the chase, with Nadine de Klerk’s unbeaten 37 off 29 sealing the deal in a tense final over requiring eight runs. Captain Laura Wolvaardt added 31, but early wickets made it a jittery pursuit.

Opting to bat after winning the toss, Bangladesh posted 232/6 in 50 overs, led by Shorna Akter’s unbeaten 51, featuring three stunning sixes, and Sharmin Akhter’s gritty 50. Fargana Hoque (30) and captain Nigar Sultana (32) chipped in, but South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba (2 wickets) kept the total in check. Bangladesh’s Nahida Akter dismissed Kapp, but their bowling fell short in the clutch.

South Africa’s third win in four matches strengthens their semi-final hopes, while Bangladesh, with one win, faces an uphill battle. Captain Nigar Sultana praised her young squad’s fight, noting, “We gave them a tough time till the last ball.” The Proteas now lead the points table, with Australia and England trailing.
