Pakistan is set to take a major leap toward a digital revolution as global tech giant Amazon announced that its Project Kuiper will launch satellite broadband services in the country next year.
A significant meeting took place between Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and a delegation from Project Kuiper, where discussions focused on introducing advanced internet services in Pakistan.
According to the Ministry of IT, this initiative is poised to transform Pakistan’s digital landscape significantly.
Project Kuiper, utilizing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, will begin providing high-speed internet across Pakistan by the end of 2026.
This multi-billion-dollar global project aims to connect underserved and hard-to-reach areas worldwide with high-speed internet access.
Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that the launch of this project is a vital step toward promoting digital inclusion and strengthening Pakistan’s connectivity ecosystem.
She further emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s “Digital Nation Pakistan” vision, which seeks to provide fast, affordable, and secure internet access to every citizen, regardless of their location.
Under Project Kuiper, 3,236 satellites will be deployed into orbit, delivering internet speeds of up to 400 Mbps to users through affordable internet terminals.
